The boys are here! We made it to 31.5 weeks, just a few days short of our goal. I think the boys wanted to determine their own birthdate.
The delivery came as a major surprise to Jason and I. We are the luckiest people in the world to have caught Jaxon in distress on my nightly monitoring on Monday. It was just chance that we caught it.
Jason said goodbye to me as my nurse was coming in to put me on the monitors and about 2 minutes after I was on the monitors, Jaxon's heartrate dropped to 60 (from 140) and would not go back up no matter what they tried. My room was filled with hospital staff and I was being wheeled off to the OR. I had a "crash c-section". I was of course hystarical as they were trying to get my pajamas off, an IV in and my bed was moving at the speed of light. I was put completely under and Jason arrived as both boys were being moved to their own isolate and NICU team.
So begins Jason side of the dramatic evening.
He was rushed to Brady's side to keep him from Jaxon, who he saw as dark blue and not breathing. Jason cut the rest of Brady's cord that was remaining on him and he held him and kept an eye on Jaxon's team who were working frantically on him. I was completely under with a tube in my throat and Jason was going in 3 directions.
When I woke up in recovery Jason took a tiny preemie diaper out of his sweatshirt and told me that each boy was wearing one. I was pretty out of it...I thought I had thrown-up but it was actually me waking up to them removing the tubes from my throat. Jason told me that Jaxon was intebated with a breathing tube and Brady was on room air, and so far they were fine. We were both emotional messes. Jason then gave me the news that my c-section cut was not a lateral line with disolvable stitches, but rather a vertical line from my belly button down with staples. We thought we had the whole operation planned to a "T", but life doesn't work that way.
I've been kinda sick the past two days with the anesthia and drugs, but we're starting to figure out what is working to allow me to sleep and just living with a little more pain.
We want to thank everyone for all their prayers, love and support through this long road. We love you all and look forward to the next long road to get the boys home.
Our little men are beautiful and we are just in love!
