We have a game plan

I had a long talk with the Neonatologist today. He agreed that something has to change for Jaxon. He said that Jax could be there for a month yet if things continue at this rate. I know I can get him to bottle feed faster at home with us, so we're going to try giving him a diuretic twice a day to see if that helps him get off the oxygen. We'll have to check his sodium and potasium levels often with using this, but hopefully it will all work out. If we can get him off the oxygen, we'll take him home with the NG tube and the diuretics. They will show us how to insert the tube as well in case he pulls it out (which he's known to do).
He hasn't thrown up at all today, but definitely still has pain and heaves like he's going to throw up. So my fingers are still crossed about the new reflux medication. The doctor is also going to submit a request to our insurance for in-home nursing. We'll see (and take) what we can get. This was my request after he asked if a family member or friend could come help us for a month...I laughed and asked if he knew anyone not working with anything to do!

Saying an extra prayer for you that it all works out. It would be wonderful to get some nursing help at home and even more wonderful to bring Jax home, I am sure! Hang in there!

You are doing such a great job. I hope that the insurance approves the help. Can you contact your state social services for nursing assistance as well? Maybe your local MoM's club can have some ladies take turns helping you out. I have my fingers crossed for you guys. Your boys will be together soon. (And managing the meds really isn't that difficult, just another thing to add to the daily routine.) Keep hanging in there!

You are amazing in my eyes. You are so strong. Little Jax will be better at home and can't wait for him to get there. Hoping that insurance will allow you to have the nurse(s) that you need for him. Maybe your local MoM's club could help?? Good suggestion to look into like other person said. Hang in there!!

Hi there hon. I am from thenest, but I am an Early Intervention Specialist. Have you talked to your pediatrician about getting one. We are contracted through DHEC. Basically, this person can help you to get services like respite, family support funds, etc lined up and if down the road, speech therapy, occupational therapy or physcial therapy is needed (to help with eating orally, etc) the EIS would be able to help. If you want to know more, just email me. You are doing such a great job! Hang in there :)
